Earlyn

A Rewind alternative that keeps running on your Mac.

Earlyn is a Mac app that does what Rewind did, a private and searchable memory of your screen and meetings, and it keeps working on your Mac after the Rewind app stopped capturing on 19 December 2025.

What happened to Rewind

  • On 5 December 2025 Limitless, the company behind Rewind, announced that it had been acquired by Meta and that it was sunsetting Rewind.
  • On 19 December 2025 the Rewind Mac app disabled screen and audio capture. Users were offered tools to export their data.

Moving over

Earlyn cannot import a Rewind export today; it starts remembering from the moment you install it. Your Rewind export stays useful on its own, and Earlyn's file indexing can read exported text files if you put them in a folder you add.

When Earlyn is not the right choice

  • You use an Intel Mac, Windows or Linux.
  • You want your memory synced to a phone or across computers; Earlyn keeps it on one Mac on purpose.
  • You want a wearable that records conversations away from the computer.
